Outdoor Classroom

Mr. Deeley¬† worked tirelessly to create an outdoor classroom for staff and students. We thought we would be ready to officially open it in September 2012; however, the new housing development forced us to relocate the classroom. This didn’t discourage Mr. Deeley. He worked closely with the contractors to locate another clearing out of the construction zone, and enlisted their help to move the classroom boulders.

In the fall of 2012, students in Mr. Deeley’s Science 9 class spent several afternoons clearing brush and spreading wood chips (donated by the District of Tumbler Ridge).

TRSS would like to thank Mr. Deeley, Mrs. Cameron, Mrs. Walsh, Mrs. Oliver, and the students in Science 9 for all of their efforts.

Students and staff use the outdoor class room regularly. In February of 2016, on Anti-Bullying day, Mr. Deeley worked with student to build benches for the outdoor classroom, which were added to the classroom in the fall of 2017.
